Decorate your Chandelier for the season

Before you decorate your chandelier make sure it is hung correctly. Chandeliers should be about 1/2 the width of the table and you can even ad up to 5". For example: If the table width is 60" across you would take 1/2, which is 30" and you could purchase a chandelier between 30 - 35" in width. Measure up from the top of the table 32 -36"... Don't hang your chandelier higher than 36" from the table top.

After you have your chandelier hung correctly above your table, don't forget to spruce it up for the season. Just remember, you don't have to wait until Christmas to decorate your chandelier.... FALL is the perfect time to start bringing some additional color and texture to your dining room.

Depending on the type of chandelier you have, there are several ways to give it a fresh new look for the current season. For example: If you have a candelabra style, you could accessorize with some fall greenery. You can now find readily available on the market garlands that have leaves, berries or various fall accents attached to them. Take one of these garlands and intertwine it through the arms of the candelabra. You can also continue it up around the chain. If you have placemats or a table runner you bring out every fall season, choose a coordinating color and replace those decorative shades in your chandelier with that color. If you only have bulbs, then purchase decorative shades that will match your decor.

Another idea you might consider trying to give your dining room some ambiance is to install a dimmer switch, which will allow you to adjust the lighting for any occasion. The total wattage should be between 200-400 watts. If you have dark colored walls and floors, you may consider using the maximum of 400 watts.

Whatever you decide to do, make it simple and fun. The most important thing is to enjoy the holidays by spending time with your family and friends.
