Organic Cotton: The textile industry is one of the most polluting, using chemicals that are dangerous to human health and wildlife. Around a quarter of the world’s insecticides are used to grow cotton and at least 8,000 chemicals are used to turn raw material into clothes, towels, bedding and other items that we buy.
Many of the chemicals used are acutely toxic, and are classified by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as moderately hazardous to extremely hazardous. © Soil Association
